The earthquakes that occurred on June 24 in Venezuela affected thousands of people from that country, including several Dominicans who reside in the South American nation.
For this reason, the Government has ordered entities such as the Ministry of Foreign Affairs (Mirex) and the Central Electoral Board (JCE) to facilitate the return of Dominicans affected by the earthquakes.
To this end, last Friday Mirex announced the authorization of a humanitarian flight, scheduled for next Monday, June 29, to safely return the affected Dominicans.
Likewise, the authorities reported that those interested in taking this flight must contact the members of the special mission of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs that is already in Venezuela, and verify their identity using their valid Dominican ID or passport.
However, how can Creoles in Venezuela contact the Dominican Government?
According to a government statement, those affected may contact
Miguel Reyes Taveras, director of Protection of Nationals Abroad, at (809) 906-8283; George Luis de León, coordinator, at (829) 728-9035; and Pablo González, analyst, at (829) 548-7940. They are all members of the Mirex mission.
In addition, to communicate with the assistance channels of the aforementioned institution, the telephone number (809) 987-7001, extensions 7595, 7597 and 7100, remains enabled.
Likewise through the email address proteccionanacionales@mirex.gob.do.
In addition, Dominicans who need guidance may contact Mr. Ysidro Castillo through the number +58 424 186 4464.
Likewise, the existing emergency line by the Consulate General of Spain in Caracas, which since July 30, 2024 has represented the interests of the Dominican Republic in Venezuela, through the telephone number +58 424 209 0264. This line is available 24 hours a day.
IN CASE OF LOSS OF DOCUMENTS
If the affected person lost their documents during the earthquakes, there is no problem.
Starting this Tuesday, June 30, compatriots in need of recovering or obtaining their identity documents to support this service will have support, since a delegation from the Central Electoral Board (JCE) will provide assistance to facilitate the identification and documentation processes that allow their return to the country on a later flight.
ABOUT THE FLIGHT
The flight, which will depart on the morning of June 29, will have capacity for 90 passengers and will depart from the Arturo Michelena International Airport, in Valencia, bound for the Las Américas International Airport, José Francisco Peña Gómez (AILA), in Santo Domingo.
