In “Pink Foot”, special attention is paid to the well-being and emotional state of animals. Cats have space not only to play and explore, but also to be alone when they want. They receive quality food, veterinary care and daily attention from volunteers. One of the coziest corners of the organization is the so-called “Cotelis” (English hotel + cat) – a specially equipped room where cats can feel as close to home as possible.
Therefore, “Pink Foot” is not about rescuing animals from the shelter, but about their journey to the most suitable homes. The cats that live here are already safe, loved and cared for. They do not lack care or warmth. Only one thing is missing – your man.
It is Kysa, a senior citizen of the shelter, who is looking for a second chance to live in a beloved home, that is waiting for her man.
For more than ten years, she had her own person, her own home and a familiar routine. But when she lost her master, she also lost everything that was her world. After the man’s death, the apartment was sold, and Kysa was left without a home and without a future. The people who got her faced difficulties – animals living in other houses did not accept her. Finally, it was decided to bring the cat to sleep.
That could have been the end of her story.
But Kys was met by people who decided she deserved more.
The veterinarians of Kaunas Animal Hospital, moved by her fate, carried out all the necessary tests and procedures at their own expense. They took care of her health and put her in the care of “Pink Paws” so that this cat could get a chance to start a new phase of life.
Today, Kysa is completely ready to go to her new home. She was born in 2011. June 24, neutered, vaccinated, wormed, chipped. FIV and FELV tests are negative, blood tests are good, heart and internal organs have been checked, teeth have been fixed. Health is taken care of from A to Z.
Kysa is timid today. She is still learning to trust her surroundings and understand that the world can be safe. That after loss can come a new beginning. “Pink Feet” volunteers see every day how often older animals are underestimated in society. Many are looking for small kittens, but it is the seniors who often make the most grateful pets. They no longer require constant attention, they do not need adventure. They need someone by their side.
Kysa is waiting for such a person today.
Her story also reminds us why it’s important to change the way we approach animal care and shelters. Behind every shelter cage is not “another cat”, but a whole life, memories, losses and hope. That is why “Rožinė pēdutė” is not limited to animal care – the organization gathers the community, invites people to meet at events, educates about responsible animal care and aims to show that a sheltered animal is no less worthy of love than a purchased one.
Kysa today is one of those animals that needs opportunity, not pity. Opportunities to own a home again. Chances of having your man again. Opportunities to spend the last years of life not in a shelter, but on the couch next to a loving family.
If you can’t hold Kysa, share her story. And if you’ve been considering a pet for a long time, maybe it’s worth opening your heart to that particular cat whose life has been turned upside down, but who still hasn’t lost hope.
Kysa is waiting in Kaunas. And Pink Foot believes that every story deserves a happy ending.
