As part of the parallel humanitarian activities of the combined Moroccan-American exercise “African Lion 2026”, which is being held in accordance with the High Instructions of His Majesty the King, Supreme Leader and Chief of General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces, a field medical-surgical hospital (HMCC) has been deployed since April 20, at the level of the territorial community of Al Fayd, falling within the province of Taroudant.
This HMCC mobilizes around 160 medical and paramedical executives from the Royal Armed Forces, alongside around 90 of their American counterparts.
It offers a full range of medical and surgical services covering several specialties including general medicine, internal medicine, dermatology, cardiology, obstetrics-gynecology, ENT, ophthalmology, pediatrics, respiratory diseases, orthopedic surgery, emergency medicine, anesthesia-intensive care, dentistry, as well as x-ray services.
Since its launch, the hospital has experienced a growing influx of citizens of all age groups, who have come to benefit from consultations and specialized care, as part of a humanitarian initiative aimed at bringing health services closer to local populations and neighboring douars.
Until May 3, more than 31,000 medical services were provided for the benefit of approximately 12,080 beneficiaries, an assessment which reflects the extent of the efforts deployed by the medical and paramedical teams.
The services of this field hospital are not limited to medical consultations, but also include carrying out surgical interventions in accordance with current medical standards, as well as early disease detection campaigns, an equipped pharmacy and social service units, guaranteeing comprehensive patient care.
Medical glasses are also distributed to patients suffering from visual problems, and medical prescriptions are issued free of charge, thus helping to reduce the social costs of beneficiary families.
This humanitarian action reflects the high level of cooperation between the Kingdom of Morocco and the United States of America in the medical and humanitarian fields, and constitutes an opportunity to strengthen the exchange of expertise between the medical teams of the two countries.
Social and cultural activities are also organized for the benefit of children, supervised by the social services of the Royal Armed Forces and their American counterparts, in order to bring them joy and comfort and to promote rapprochement and cultural exchange through various educational and recreational programs.
This initiative was widely welcomed by the local population, who expressed their gratitude for these free health services, due to their direct impact on improving access to care and alleviating the suffering of patients.
This humanitarian action illustrates the commitment of the Royal Armed Forces and their American partners to the values of solidarity and mutual aid, and highlights the human dimension of the “African Lion” exercise, which is not limited to military aspects, but also extends to social and humanitarian initiatives.
On Monday, a high-level delegation from the Southern Zone General Staff of the Royal Armed Forces and the US Army visited this HMCC.
On this occasion, members of the delegation led by Major General Mohammed Benlouali, Chief of Staff of the Southern Zone, and Major General Daniel Boyack, Commander of the National Guard of the State of Utah, followed explanations on the objectives of this initiative and the human and logistical resources mobilized for the success of this humanitarian operation as well as the various services provided for the benefit of the local population by this HMCC.
