A meeting in Sanaa today, headed by the Chairman of the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the capital secretariat, Ali Al-Hadi, approved the establishment of a national factory to produce tiles and ceramics of various types to enhance local manufacturing and expand the national production base.
The meeting, which included the Vice Chairman of the Chamber’s Board of Directors at the secretariat, Mohamed Salah, and businessmen and merchants working in the ceramics and sanitary materials sector, as well as building materials, reviewed the initial vision of the project, its implementation mechanisms, and the stages of its establishment.
At the meeting, Al-Hadi confirmed that the Chamber is adopting a strategic direction to support national industrial projects that contribute to enhancing local production and reducing dependence on imports.
The establishment of the ceramic and tile factory project was considered one of the qualitative initiatives led by the private sector, based on the components and raw materials that Yemen possesses that qualify it to localize this industry.
The President of the Chamber of Commerce pointed out that the next stage will include completing the procedures for establishing the project, preparing technical and economic studies, and determining the financing mechanisms and contribution structure to ensure the implementation of the project according to sound economic and investment foundations.
The attendees stressed the importance of shifting from import-based commercial activity to investing in productive and industrial projects, stressing that the factory will contribute to providing national products to the local market, creating new job opportunities, and enhancing the added value of the national economy.
The meeting also approved the completion of arrangements for establishing the project, as a practical step to localize industries related to the building materials sector, and to support industrial development trends led by the private sector under the auspices and follow-up of the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the secretariat of the capital, Sana’a.
The project is the first of a series of industrial initiatives that the Chamber of Commerce and Industry in the Capital Secretariat is sponsoring and encouraging as part of its efforts to enhance investment in productive sectors and support national industry as a basic pillar of sustainable economic growth.
The meeting was attended by Director General of the Chamber, Adel Al-Khawlani, and a number of heads of a number of sectors in the Chamber.
