The Abu Dhabi Police General Command, as part of the “Safe Summer” campaign and the Ministry of Interior’s “Accident-Free Summer” campaign, called on drivers and community members to avoid leaving some belongings inside vehicles during the summer, in order to preserve public safety and prevent fire risks that may result from high temperatures.
She explained that many vehicle fires are related to non-compliance with safety and prevention procedures, stressing the necessity of not leaving six types of materials inside vehicles, including: pressurized containers, batteries, energy storage devices, hand sanitizers, perfumes, gas cylinders, and lighters, as they are flammable or explosive materials when exposed directly to sunlight and high temperatures, which may lead to the outbreak of fires in vehicles.
She stressed that vehicles contain many flammable materials, such as fuel, oils, and some internal components made of plastic and rubber, which requires adherence to preventive measures to reduce risks.
She stressed the importance of performing regular vehicle maintenance with the competent technical authorities, ensuring the readiness of safety equipment, and keeping a fire extinguisher and first aid bag inside the vehicle, which contributes to enhancing the safety of drivers and road users and reducing accidents during the summer season.
