Today, Thursday, the Governor of Hodeidah, Abdullah Abdo Ateefi, inspected the progress of the ongoing construction work to develop the facilities, roads and main axes in Ras Issa Port, with the aim of facilitating traffic and reducing congestion resulting from the passage of cargo trucks and oil derivatives, as part of an integrated plan to modernize the road network within the port.
Governor Atifi reviewed the site for establishing and organizing parking lots for cargo and fuel trucks, and heard from the port administration a detailed explanation about the steps taken to control the movement of trucks, and the mechanism for scheduling ship reception and cargo unloading operations.
Atifi praised the efforts made to implement these measures, stressing that they will contribute to achieving smooth entry and exit, reducing traffic congestion, and providing a disciplined operating environment that enhances the efficiency of commercial and navigational activity in the port.
He stressed the need to develop the services provided to ships and trucks in line with the requirements of the current stage, and contribute to increasing the port’s capacity and supporting its commercial movement.
Following the visit, Atefi chaired a meeting that included the leadership of the General Authority for Land Transport Regulatory Branch, the port administration, and relevant parties, which was devoted to discussing the urgent needs for preparing truck parking lots and support services, and practical plans aimed at ending the phenomenon of congestion, accommodating the increasing numbers of trucks, and improving the flow of movement to and from the port.
The Governor stressed the importance of completing all work according to the specified timetables, and enhancing integration and coordination between the concerned authorities to ensure keeping pace with the growth in maritime and commercial traffic, and improving the level of operational performance and logistical services in Ras Issa Port.
