The branch of the Yemeni Authority for Standardization, Metrology and Quality Control in Dhamar Governorate carried out a field visit to shops buying and selling gold jewelry in Al Bayda Governorate, Radaa and the Afar region, as part of periodic monitoring of shops buying and selling gold.
The director of the Authority’s branch in Dhamar Governorate, Engineer Abdul Basit Al-Jarmouzi, explained that the field trip comes within the framework of the Authority’s annual development plan for the year 2026 AD, with the aim of protecting the consumer from fraud and tampering with legal weights and standards.
He pointed out that during the field trip, random samples of gold jewelry offered for sale and trading were taken, and they were subjected to examination and testing to verify their compliance with legal standards, in addition to calibrating the scales used in buying and selling gold, and obliging goldsmith shops to renew licenses to practice the jewelery trade profession through the electronic services portal (Facilitation).
Al-Jarmouzi called on all citizens to make sure when buying gold that it bears the symbol of the approved workshop, that the scale bears the authority’s sticker, and that the license is prominent and easy to see inside the store, and to report any violation via the toll-free number 8001222.
