The Prime Minister, Seifi Gharib, commissioned by the President of the Republic, Abdelmadjid Tebboune, today, Saturday, at the Abdellatif Rahal International Convention Center in Algiers, supervised the ceremony to commemorate the National Artist’s Day, within the framework of the care the state gives to promoting national culture and valuing the contributions of the Algerian artistic family in enriching the cultural scene and strengthening the components of national identity.
According to a statement by the Prime Minister’s interests, the celebration ceremony took place in the presence of the Minister of Culture and Arts, Malika Ben Douda, along with a number of government members, high-ranking state officials, and an elite group of artists, intellectuals, creators, and representatives of the national cultural and artistic community.
On this occasion, the winners of the Presidential Award for Young Creators, Ali Maachi, for the year 2026, were honored in its various literary and artistic categories, which include novels, poetry, written theatrical works, musical works, lyrical arts, dance art, cinematic and audiovisual arts, and theatrical arts, in addition to the plastic arts.
This award embodies the special attention paid by public authorities to promoting cultural and artistic creativity and encouraging and accompanying young talents, in a way that contributes to developing the national cultural movement and stimulating intellectual and artistic production, as well as highlighting Algerian competencies and consolidating the values of innovation, excellence and creativity.
This annual demonstration, organized under the high patronage of the President of the Republic, also falls within the context of recognizing the pioneering role played by the Algerian artistic community in serving the national culture and preserving the nation’s collective memory, and is an embodiment of the state’s commitment to continue supporting artists, improving the conditions for them to practice their creative activity, and upgrading their social and professional status, in a way that enhances the status of culture as an essential tributary to national development and a pivotal factor in consolidating national unity and preserving the country’s cultural heritage.
