Saudi Arabia announced the change of the covering of the Kaaba to coincide with the beginning of the new Hijri year 1448.
The official Saudi Al-Ekhbariya channel reported, “With the entry of the new Hijri year, the Holy Kaaba begins to receive its new veil,” while its footage showed the holy place that recently received pilgrims in its new garb.
The General Authority for the Affairs of the Two Holy Mosques announced in a statement the start of “preparing the covering of the Holy Kaaba in preparation for changing it with its new covering at the beginning of the new year, today, Tuesday.”
This scene is repeated once every year, and the eyes of Muslims around the world await it with the dawn of the new Hijri year, according to what was reported by the Saudi News Agency “SPA” yesterday evening, Monday.
The gold jewelry, lamps, lamps, and ornaments installed in the kiswa were removed, and the curtain of the door of the Holy Kaaba was lowered, in preparation for lowering the old kiswa and covering it with the new kiswa.
