The proceedings in the case against Strahinja Koprivica, Igor Krstović, Blaž Đurković, Nikola Vukotić and Marinko Koprivica have been completed before the Podgorica High Court, and the verdict is scheduled for July 21.
Accused Nikola Vukotić said in his closing speech that, as he claims, he was offered to be acquitted if he accused Strahinja Koprivica.
“The evidence presented by the prosecution against me is based on bazaar stories. I was told that if I accuse Strahinja Koprivica, I will go home. After my refusal to get involved in falsely accusing people, all their threats against me came true,” said Vukotić.
He added that he is not a member of a criminal organization and that, as he claims, the prosecution introduced him to some of the accused.
In his closing speech, Strahinja Koprivica denied the accusations and stated that he was not the organizer of a criminal group, stressing that he is a family man and the father of three minor children.
“I am a family man, the father of three minor children. I never thought of becoming a criminal, let alone the organizer of a criminal group. I was 25 years old when, according to the indictment, this alleged organization was formed,” said Koprivica.
Blažo Đurković stated that his statement in the investigation was taken while he was under the influence of narcotics, and that he was exposed to pressure from the police and in relation to his family.
Igor Krstović pointed out that he is in a severely impaired state of health, that he is wounded and undergoing therapy, and that he does not accept the allegations of membership in a criminal organization, with claims that SDT relies on the statement of Blaž Đurković, whom he does not know.
Marinko Koprivica said that he agrees with the allegations of the defense.
The Special State Prosecutor’s Office (SDT) requested in its final words that the accused be sentenced to prison terms exceeding 43 years in total, depending on the role of each of them.
According to the indictment, it is a criminal organization that, as claimed by the SDT, operated from 2019 to 2021 on the territory of Montenegro, Bosnia and Herzegovina and Croatia, and was involved in drug and cigarette smuggling.
