A FORMER STUDENT of the Kingstown Government School (KGS) who twice failed to pass the Common Entrance Examination, returned as the featured speaker at the school’s 2026 graduation ceremony where he inspired the graduands with a story faith, determination and resilience.
Cordero Jeremy A. Telesford, returned to his alma mater as the featured speaker where he addressed students, teachers, parents and invited guests on the theme, “Together we stand as Winners;We believe and have achieved”, a delivery said to have resonated deeply with those in attendance.
In a symbolic gesture that immediately stirred emotion throughout the auditorium, Telesford entered wearing the same style KGS uniform he wore as a student, carrying a school bag and lunch kit reminiscent of his primary school years. The act served as a visual reminder of humble beginnings and the journey from childhood dreams to adult achievement.
Reflecting on his years at KGS Telesford spoke candidly about personal struggles and setbacks. He shared that his educational journey was far from perfect, recalling how he failed the Common Entrance Examination twice and endured criticism from those who doubted his potential.
“Some people called me a failure. Some people said I would never amount to anything,” he told the graduating class. Rather than allowing those experiences to define him, Telesford explained how perseverance, faith, and a commitment to personal growth enabled him to continue moving forward despite disappointment and adversity.
