
Mullah Mohammad Ismail Muawiya, the press officer of the Paktika Police Command, told Bakhtar News Agency that during the operation, the officers of the forest protection and monitoring unit seized three cargo vehicles, six trucks and a Saracha type vehicle, which were transporting wood illegally.
According to him, the said vehicles came from Seperi district of Khost province and Barmal, Nake and Zeruhak districts of Paktika and wanted to send wood to Ghazni province.
He added that the drivers of the said vehicles were also arrested and are under legal investigation.
According to the officials, efforts are being made to protect natural forests and to prevent timber smuggling and violators will be dealt with legally.
It is worth noting that similar measures have been taken recently in different provinces of the country to protect forests and prevent illegal timber smuggling.
