Hodeidah Governorate launched the new academic year 1448 AH – 2026/2027 AD, amid intensive preparations carried out by the Office of Education and Scientific Research in the governorate, coinciding with the attendance of more than half a million students, both male and female, in their academic seats in more than 1,600 public and private schools.

The Director General of the Office of Education, Education and Scientific Research in the governorate, Omar Muhammad Bahr, confirmed in a statement to Al-Thawra that the office has completed all arrangements to receive male and female students according to the time plan approved by the Ministry of Education.

He explained that the office has completed preparing study schedules and distributing supervisory and technical tasks to educational departments and schools, ensuring the progress of the educational process from the first day without obstacles facing students, parents, or educational staff.

“Comprehensive equipment for the school environment”

Bahr revealed the completion of maintenance and rehabilitation work in school buildings in all districts, including school seats, bathrooms, courtyards, classrooms, fences, doors and windows, with the aim of providing a safe and stimulating educational environment.

He pointed out the intensification of cleaning campaigns inside and around schools according to a prior plan, in implementation of the Ministry’s directives, stressing the importance of adhering to the morning assembly and saluting the flag, and activating the role of school radio in delivering the correct information to students in a simplified manner, and instilling the values of loyalty and national belonging in them.

He pointed out that the available curricula were disbursed and distributed to all schools, and coordination was made with directors of directorates and educational departments to raise the readiness of schools, and field reports were prepared to determine their needs and follow up on work plans and study schedules.

He confirmed that guidance and supervision teams had been assigned to go on the ground to schools to follow up on job discipline and the progress of the educational process, and to facilitate procedures for accepting and registering students.

He added, “The new academic year must start from thoughtful starting points that are based on the experiences of the past year and accommodate the variables of the stage,” stressing the need to motivate the educational staff and create an encouraging environment to work under the exceptional circumstances.

The inauguration of the study on its scheduled date, Muharram 5, 1448 AH – corresponding to June 20, despite the repercussions of the aggression and siege, was considered a clear picture of Yemeni steadfastness, and an embodiment of the people of Hodeidah’s adherence to science and knowledge as an unwavering strategic choice.

    “Societal role and collective responsibility”

He pointed out that more than half a million students, both male and female, in the primary and secondary levels attended their studies on the first day, stressing that the educational front is no less important than the fields of confrontation, and that education represents a priority in the project of steadfastness and national independence.

He urged school administrations and teachers to start the new year with more activity and optimism, and to create the appropriate atmosphere for male and female students, pointing out that the success of the educational process is a collective responsibility that requires concerted efforts between official and educational authorities and society.

    “Field landing”

Bahr pointed out that all directors of educational departments in the directorates were assigned to prepare detailed pictorial reports on the maintenance and readiness conditions in schools, while obligating the Follow-up and Inspection Department to periodically and suddenly visit schools to ensure that instructions are being implemented and to address any field observations immediately.

He also stressed the necessity of continuous monitoring of the regularity of the educational system through specialized committees, praising the support of the leadership of the local authority in the governorate, and the interaction of all its agencies to provide a suitable climate for the people of the governorate and strive to develop the educational services provided to them.

    “Consultative meetings and joint coordination”

Prior to the inauguration, extensive consultative meetings were held that included the leadership of the local authority and leaders of the education sectors, which were devoted to discussing ways to improve the quality of education, improve its outcomes, and enhance coordination between the authorities to ensure a strong start across all directorates.

    “Readiness of school buildings”

For their part, the directors of the educational departments in the Al-Hali districts, Hassan Wahban, Al-Hawk Mustafa Al-Magharem, and Al-Mina Ahmed Miskin, explained that they carried out a field trip to a number of schools based on the directives of the Director General of the Office, to review the safety of school buildings and follow up on regular maintenance work before the start of the school year.

They emphasized monitoring the most prominent obstacles and negatives existing in some schools and submitting them for urgent treatment, stressing that maintenance teams were directed to intervene quickly to avoid observations in order to ensure the safety of students and provide stability to the educational process.

They pointed out that these preparations come as an affirmation of the Yemenis’ insistence on transforming the challenges of aggression and siege into motivations for construction and giving, and relying on the role of the school and the teacher in preparing a generation armed with knowledge and awareness, capable of confronting projects of hegemony and arrogance and actively contributing to reconstruction and achieving sustainable development.
