Although the situation in the field of safety at work has improved over the past decades, certain statistics in this area are becoming worrying. After a period of decline, the number of fatal accidents in the performance of official duties is increasing again. In addition, in Slovenia we still do not collect data on deaths due to occupational diseases, and due to the warming of the atmosphere, working in the heat is also an increasing problem in our country. The number of deaths has been increasing in the EU for several years.
According to the data of the labor inspectorate, we had as many as 21 fatal injuries at work last year, which is five more than the year before. Among them were also three miners from Premogovnik Velenje. In the first three months alone (until April 10), there were already eleven fatal accidents, which is three times more than in the same period in previous years. In two cases, it was an accident involving employees of Slovenian employers in Germany.
