Martyr Al-Hafiz, May 3, 2026 (SPS) – Today, Sunday, member of the National Secretariat, Edda Ibrahim Ahmeem, Minister of Public Health, received a delegation from the African Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), headed by Dr. Wissam Manqoula, Regional Director of the North Africa Office.
The meeting was attended by the Sahrawi Ambassador to Ethiopia, the Permanent Representative to the African Union, Lamen Abali, and some central directors in the Ministry, to supervise the process of delivering and receiving the central room for the vaccine preservation and cooling chain, which is supervised by the African Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) and implemented by the World Food Program and UNICEF.
The delivery and receipt process began with a tour by the Minister of Public Health, during which comprehensive explanations were provided about the stages of completion of the central room for the series of preservation and refrigeration of vaccines by members of the delegation of the African Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC), in addition to a detailed explanation of its components and work programs by Sidi Ammar Al-Sheikh, the official of the Central Department for Vaccination.
The completion of the project comes within the framework of the second phase of the Save Lives and Livelihoods Program (SLL), which was launched by the African Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) at the beginning of 2023, with funding from the American MasterCard Fund Foundation, which supports strengthening the capabilities of the member states of the African Union in confronting and responding to diseases.
The Minister of Public Health, during the process of handing over and receiving the central room for the vaccine preservation and refrigeration chain, praised the exceptional role played by the African Center for Disease Prevention and Control (CDC) in its permanent accompaniment of the Sahrawi Ministry of Public Health in various health fields, considering that the completion of a qualitative project of this size is the greatest evidence of the efforts made by the African Center to support the health field in various African countries.
