Olympic gold medalist Thea Lafond Gadson has delivered another milestone performance, setting a new national record for Dominica while capturing gold at the World Athletics Continental Tour (WACT) Golden Meeting in Croatia on Friday.
According to the Rice Man Facebook page, Lafond Gadson produced a world-leading leap of 15.25 metres on her sixth and final attempt, surpassing the previous Dominican national record of 15.02 metres that she established at the 2024 Summer Olympics.
The remarkable jump not only secured the victory but also placed Lafond Gadson among the top 10 performers in the history of the women’s triple jump.
Information shared by Panam Sports on Facebook noted that the 15.25-metre effort earned the Dominican star both the World Lead (WL) and a new Personal Best (PB) for the season.
Her performance also broke the Zagreb Meeting record, adding to the already impressive list of achievements for the Olympic champion.
Not only does the latest victory further cement Lafond Gadson’s status as one of the world’s premier triple jump athletes, but as Rice Man’s Facebook page highlighted, it is yet another proud moment for Dominica on the international athletics stage.
