Grenadians living abroad are returning home for two weeks of celebration, cultural exchange, and national engagement as Grenada Diaspora Homecoming 2026 officially gets underway today.
According to a press release, the national initiative opened with a Welcome Reception at the historic Belmont Estate, where returning nationals and invited guests were greeted by the Minister for Foreign Affairs, Trade and Export Development, Hon. Joseph Andall.
The reception marked the official start of Grenada Diaspora Homecoming 2026, an initiative aimed at strengthening ties between Grenada and its global diaspora through cultural activities, community engagement, investment discussions, professional networking, and opportunities to contribute to the country’s continued development.

Held against the backdrop of Belmont Estate’s rich cultural and historical setting, the event brought together members of the Grenadian diaspora, government officials, community leaders, local partners, and other stakeholders for an evening focused on reconnecting, and celebrating a shared national identity.

Addressing those in attendance, Minister Andall emphasized the important role Grenadians living overseas continue to play in the nation’s development.
“Grenada’s diaspora has always been part of the national story. This Homecoming gives us an opportunity to welcome our nationals back not only with celebration, but with purpose. It allows us to deepen the relationship between Grenadians at home and abroad, to strengthen the ties of identity and belonging, and to explore how that connection can continue to support Grenada’s development in meaningful and lasting ways,” said Andall.
The press release noted that the Homecoming initiative is intended to go beyond a traditional reunion by creating opportunities for meaningful engagement between returning nationals and those living on the island.
Ambassador for Diaspora Affairs Terrance Forrester said the programme is designed to build lasting partnerships that benefit the country.

“Grenada Diaspora Homecoming is about more than return. It is about reconnection with intention. The diaspora represents an extraordinary network of talent, influence, expertise, and possibility. When we create spaces for Grenadians at home and abroad to meet, exchange ideas and experience the country together, we are opening doors for collaboration, investment, advocacy and long-term national value,” he stated.
Guests attending the reception were introduced to Grenadian hospitality, local traditions, and the strong sense of community that organizers say is at the heart of the Homecoming experience.
Officials add that the Welcome Reception also set the stage for a packed programme of events scheduled over the coming days. Activities include cultural experiences, community outreach initiatives, island tours, the Diaspora Forum and Marketplace, National Spice Replanting Day, and several other events taking place throughout Grenada, Carriacou, and Petite Martinique.

Grenada Diaspora Homecoming 2026 runs from June 21 through July 5 and features two weeks of activities centered on reconnection, celebration, collaboration, business development, and national pride.
Organizers hope the initiative will continue strengthening relationships between Grenadians at home and abroad while creating new opportunities for investment, knowledge sharing, and long-term national development.
