Martyr Al-Hafiz, June 28, 2026 (SPS) – The Sahrawi National Council concluded, today, Sunday, at its headquarters, the work of the spring session, during a public session chaired by the member of the National Secretariat, President of the National Council, Mr. Al-Bashir Mustafa Al-Sayyid, in the presence of the member of the National Secretariat, the Prime Minister, Mr. Bashraya Bayon, along with members of the National Council and the government.
In his speech on this occasion, Mr. Al-Bashir Mustafa Al-Sayyid stressed that the Sahrawi National Council represents an embodiment of the nature of democracy and human freedom, and reflects the ability of the Sahrawi people to participate and influence the process of building their national institutions, and to consolidate a culture of responsibility in serving the higher goals of the Sahrawi people.
The President of the National Council explained that the legislative institution constitutes a national space for discussion, dialogue, and exchange of visions and ideas, and an arena for exercising national responsibility, within the framework of integration and interaction between the legislative and executive authorities, in a way that enhances the role of oversight and evaluation and contributes to developing institutional performance and improving management mechanisms.
Mr. Al-Bashir Mustafa Al-Sayed pointed out that the work of the National Council is inseparable from the specificity of the stage in which the Sahrawi people are living, nor from the current national challenges, stressing the need to take into account the general reality, and to deal positively and constructively with various issues and concerns, in a way that serves the public interest and strengthens the steadfastness of the Sahrawi community.
He stressed the importance of the National Council remaining a space for responsible dialogue and consolidating institutional work, ensuring the continued building of Sahrawi state institutions and carrying out the tasks assigned to them in the path of liberation and national construction.
On the sidelines of the conclusion of the spring session, the Sahrawi National Council organized a solidarity stand with the Sahrawi civilian prisoners languishing in Moroccan occupation prisons, during which it renewed its full solidarity with them and its support for their struggles for freedom and dignity, and demanded their release, in support of the ongoing national and international campaign to support the Sahrawi prisoners.
