82-year-old rock and roll legend Mick Jagger wants to get back on tour with bandmates Ronnie Wood and Keith Richards ahead of the release of The Rolling Stones’ 25th album, Foreign Tongues, due out in July. However, he admitted that it is unlikely that the band will hold concerts during 2026.

During an appearance alongside Ronnie Wood on the BBC’s Tracks of My Years radio show, the iconic singer said he is looking forward to the tour.

“I would really like to start a tour. I can’t wait. I don’t believe it will happen this year, but I hope it happens as soon as possible”, he said.

In December 2025, it was reported that the “Paint It Black” hitmakers had canceled plans for a UK and European stadium tour after Keith Richards was unable to commit to the planned schedule.

A spokesman for the band told The Sun newspaper at the time that the Stones would return to the stage when they were ready.

“The band were considering a tour earlier this year but fell through. It’s difficult for the fans, but the Stones will be back on stage when they’re ready.”

Last month, Keith Richards admitted that a 2026 tour was not currently on the cards, but stressed that the band were discussing next steps after the release of the new album.

In an interview with the Associated Press, he said that maybe they can talk about next year.

“We can talk next year. At the moment we have just finished the album and we are considering what we will do next. Very soon, but not this year”, he added.

The new album “Foreign Tongues” was recorded at Metropolis Studios in West London and is said to retain the band’s signature sound, while simultaneously exploring new musical directions and new lyrical themes.

Ronnie Wood stated that the atmosphere in the studio was extraordinary.

“The atmosphere in the studio was extremely creative and the whole band was in great shape throughout the process. Many times we made the songs right from the first recording. I hope the audience likes them,” he said.

Drumming on the album will be Steve Jordan, who was recommended by the late drummer Charlie Watts.

However, Charlie Watts will also be heard on the album, having worked on several new songs during the last years of his life before he passed away in August 2021 at the age of 80.

One of the songs where his contribution has been preserved is “Hit Me In The Head”, which was completed and included in the album “Foreign Tongues”.

Mick Jagger had previously spoken about this song during a promotional event for the album.

“We recorded it in Los Angeles with Charlie. It’s a fast punk-rock song. Extremely fast,” he said.
