During the week, panel sessions, lectures and practical master classes were held on developing competencies in the field of modern media, digital communications and production content.
Particular attention is paid to the issues of training a new generation of journalists and media specialists capable of working in the conditions of digital transformation and growing requirements for the reliability of information.
The training was attended by 80 students from the MNU International School of Journalism, who were divided into four areas: television reporting and visual stories, audio journalism and podcasts, storytelling in documentary films, and working with new technologies, including artificial intelligence in journalism.
Throughout the week, students were engaged in their chosen direction – from meeting trainers and mastering theory to practical trips and preparing final projects. This format allowed them to deeply immerse themselves in the profession: look for real speakers, record interviews, edit materials and present finished projects.
— Partnership with the Presidential Broadcasting Company made it possible to create a unique project, thanks to which students gain access to practices and lectures by leading journalists. This week showed how effective this format is: students were able not only to consolidate their knowledge, but also to demonstrate their skills in real cases,” emphasized Aigul Zhamalova, dean of the MNU International School of Journalism.
Student work as part of the training was devoted to applied social topics related to health and quality of life. The practice took place in real locations – for example, in the Botanical Garden, where the guys filmed stories, conducted interviews and collected audio materials.
Chinese trainers noted the high level of technical and professional training of Kazakh journalists, including in the use of artificial intelligence. These technologies are widely used in news journalism and program production, opening up new opportunities for the media.

“This training turned out to be truly valuable for us. It allowed not only to consolidate the knowledge of the graduate course, but also to see how foreign journalists work. It is especially pleasant that the invited speakers highly appreciated our work. This format of cooperation gives us not only a theoretical basis, but also living practice,” Adina Nurkatova, a student at the MNU International School of Journalism, shared her impressions.
At the closing ceremony of CMG Media Week 2026, the best student projects were presented, and their authors received certificates confirming participation in the program.
CGTN journalist Zhao Yunfei conducted a public training on “Journalism in a Complex World” for media professionals.
It was noted that the organization of regular platforms for the exchange of experience and the implementation of joint projects was an important step in strengthening ties between the academic educational environment and media structures, emphasizing the importance of systematic work on the development of production standards in the field of communications.
Let us recall that the event, organized by the Presidential Broadcasting Company together with the China Media Group, takes place within the framework of the Agreement on the Implementation of Joint Projects in the Media Sphere, signed on June 16, 2025 in the presence of the leaders of the two states – Kassym-Jomart Tokayev and Xi Jinping – during the visit of the Chairman of the People’s Republic of China to Kazakhstan.
