The department of Prevention and Extinction of Fires and Rescues (DPEIS) currently has 138 workersof which 121 are part of the Fire Department, according to The workforce has an average age of 50 years and the Government of Andorra predicts that 24 employees retire between the years 2026 and 2030according to the executive’s response to the questions posed by the social democratic general counsel Peter Baron, last April 27 to find out the current state of the fire brigade of Andorra.
The most numerous age group is between the 51 and 55 yearswith 31 effectivefollowed by the of 46 to 50 yearswith 29 members. These data show the progressive aging of the body and explain the retirement forecast for the coming years.
To deal with this generational relief, the Government has already launched a selective process to cover six firefighter positionspublished in BOPA last May 25, while analyzing whether the future entry into operation of the National Emergency Center of Andorra will require an additional increase in cash.
The retirement forecast is of six cash in 2026, set in 2027, five in 2028, four in 2029 and set in 2030. The Government ensures that these vacancies will be filled through the corresponding selective entry processes.

The parliamentary response also highlights theage of the body’s mobile fleet. The 17 operational trucks have an average age of 25 years and four months, while the light vehicles present an average of 12 years and seven months The body currently has 50 vehicles between ambulances, trucks, vans, light vehicles, trailers and other equipment.
Faced with this situation, the DPEIS presented at the end of 2025 a progressive renewal plan for the mobile fleet which provides for the replacement of several vehicles during the next five years. Among the planned actions is the addition of a new ambulance this year, the renewal of self-pumping and extrication trucks, as well as the replacement of a ladder truck and a forestry vehicle that will exceed the 45 years of antiquity the 2030.
Regarding the security of the cash, the Government ensures that the body already has a decontamination project for personal protective equipment, with specific cleaning protocols and an agreement with the manufacturer to periodically review older equipment. The executive considers that the system is correctly deployed and rules out the need for an extraordinary budget item.
