The council of ministers approved today the transfer of the Borda Nova I building at the National Housing Institute (INH)which will incorporate the 44 floors of the promotion in the public housing park for affordable rent. The property, located at Carrer Terra Vella in Andorra la Vellathus becoming part of the housing portfolio managed by the INHin charge of access, allocation and management of public flats. “In the coming weeks, the competition to award them will begin,” he explained minister spokesperson, Guillem Casalin a subsequent press conference council of ministers.
The building has nine floors above ground and a total of 44 homesof which 15 are one-bedroom, 23 two-bedroom and 6 three-bedroom. At the ground floor there are three premisesone of which will be transferred to municipality of Andorra la Vellawhile the other two will be used for building facilities. In addition, it has six underground floors with around 200 parking spaces for vehicles and twenty for motorcycles. Each home will be assigned a parking space and most of the rest will be given to the community for management, he pointed out Casal.
The minister has remarked that one of the particularities of the promotion is that it is the first building in the public park built following passive house criteriaconsidered the highest international standard of energy efficiency. according to Casal“this will allow the property to be energy self-sufficient”.
The plot on which it has been built Borda Nova I was given free of charge by municipality of Andorra la Vella at Government of Andorra in March 2020 to allocate it to public facilities. With this addition, the public housing stock will reach this year the 266 flatsof which eight are reserved for residential emergency situations. Construction is already underway on the same plot Borda Nova II, a second development of 42 homes that is expected to be completed at the beginning of 2029.
The Government highlights that there are currently five more developments under construction a I order, Escaldes-Engordany, Andorra la Vella, Sant Julià de Lòria i Massana. Once completed, the public park will approach the 500 homes. The executive maintains the goal of reaching 650 flats for regulated rent and this week it opened a new competition to acquire more buildings intended to expand the public housing supply.
