Record-setting Parks helps Seajays win Beaubrun meet

Seajays topped the standings with 1407 points, including 74 gold medals, among 172 medals in all. Led by their women’s team, Sharks were second with 966.5 points, 29 gold medals, and 85 medals all told. Lightning Aquatics got 626 points and 27 gold medals among a total of 60, followed by RR Aquatics on 589.5 points, winners of 24 events, and holders of 64 total medals. Rodney Heights Aquatics and Southern Flying Fish rounded out the participating clubs.

Parks, the two-time high points winner at the CARIFTA Aquatics Championships, continued her scintillating form for 2026. She led a Seajays sweep of the 11-12 girls category, ahead of Maya Andrew and Khiara Hippolyte.

Parks tallied 72 points from her eight individual events, a perfect score. She lowered her national record for the 400m individual medley to 5:24.04 and bettered three other age group records. Her 27.84 in the 50m freestyle broke Naima Hazell’s 2018 record. 2:14.89 in 200 free erased Fayth Jeffrey’s 2022 mark.  And in the 50m backstroke, her 30.97 improved on her own 2025 performance.

Andrew won the 100m backstroke, 50m breaststroke and 100m breaststroke. Hippolyte took the 100m freestyle and 200m backstroke.

Dorville topped the open boys division (18 and over) with 72 points. He set personal-best marks to win the 50 free, 100 back and 50 fly. Shemar James was second, and Olympic swimmer Jayhan Odlum-Smith, making his way back from injury, was third for a Seajays sweep.

Another regional medallist, Xu got 70 points in the 15-17 boys division. He had career-bests in 50 back, 50 breast, 50 fly and 400m IM, where he took more than 11 seconds off his previous PB. Noah Dorville was second for Seajays, and Aaron Charles third for Lightning Aquatics.

Dantes, also a CARIFTA gold medallist, took 70 points to win the 11-12 boys. He had significant improvements in 100 and 200 back, 50 fly and 400 IM to top Jayce Daniel (Lightning Aquatics) and Dylan Corcoran (Sea Jays).

Miles Andrew was perfect in the 9-10 boys. He took all four freestyle races, including his best-ever swims in the 200 and 400, adding the 50 and 100 fly and 200 IM in personal record times. Tiago Nelson (Sea Jays) and Andrew Charlemagne (RR Aquatic) were second and third.

Amber Francois ensured a 9-10 sweep, taking the girls’ crown. She amassed 64 points, just ahead of Zoe Fortune (Sharks) and Leamandia Brown (RR Aquatic).

Three other records were broken, all by Mikaili Charlemagne of Sharks in the open girls category. The Tokyo 2020 Olympian tallied 66 points, breaking records in the 200 free (2:15.08), 200 back (2:36.71), and 100 fly (1:06.79).
