During his press conference, the President of the Republic, José Raúl Mulinotook a tour of the administration offices of the new Children’s Hospital, where he reiterated that public works do not belong to a particular government, but to the citizens who need them, so they must be completed.
The president explained the use of the discretionary allocation of the Presidency, pointing out that cases of highly complex medical emergencies occur daily that, in many cases, can only be attended to abroad, which represents high and unattainable costs for numerous Panamanian families.
Among the most notable announcements from the weekly conference on Thursday, April 30 are:
President Mulino reiterated that public works do not belong to a particular government, but to the citizens, so they must be completed for the benefit of the population.
-The president explained that, through the Social Secretariat of the Presidency, support is managed for complex surgeries and transfers of patients and family members, especially in cases of minors and adults who require specialized medical care outside the country.
-Requested that each case be evaluated quickly and under objective criteria, prioritizing families with incomes that do not exceed one thousand balboas.
-He reported that to date hundreds of people have benefited, including 20 pediatric cardiac surgeries, 17 transplants in infants and 99 prostheses.
-Aid has also been granted to 320 families with hospital beds, hearing aids and wheelchairs; 662 beneficiaries with household goods; 88 with medical consumables; and 97 families with funeral expense coverage.
-He indicated that these resources are also used in national emergency situations, such as natural disasters or other urgent needs of the State.
-As an example, he mentioned repairs to state infrastructure, including the Palacio de las Garzas, where recent rains caused leaks that must be addressed due to the deterioration of the building.
