    Bir Lahlou (Sahrawi Republic), June 5, 2026 (SPS) – The President of the Republic, Secretary-General of the Front, Mr. Ibrahim Ghali, sent a congratulatory message to his Zimbabwean counterpart, His Excellency Mr. Emmerson Dambudzo Mnangagwa, in which he expressed his congratulations to him on the occasion of Blah’s election as a non-permanent member of the Security Council.

    Your Excellency, dear brother,

    On behalf of the government and people of the Sahrawi Republic, I would like to express to you our warmest congratulations on the election of your brotherly country as a non-permanent member of the United Nations Security Council for the period (2027-2029), wishing you a successful and influential term in the Council.

    This overwhelming victory achieved today is a remarkable achievement and a testimony to the confidence placed by the governments and peoples of the African Union and the international community in your brotherly country’s commitment to promoting global peace and security through the approach of multilateralism, adhering to the core principles of the United Nations Charter, and promoting peaceful coexistence and human and peoples’ rights.

    We are confident that your brotherly country will contribute constructively to carrying out the vital responsibility undertaken by the Security Council, which is to maintain international peace and security, settle disputes by peaceful means in accordance with the Charter of the United Nations and international law, and to strengthen the voices of the countries and peoples of Africa and the Global South within the Security Council and on the international arena.

    Our two brotherly countries share deep ties and a firm commitment to safeguarding the founding principles and objectives of the African Union, including the right of peoples to self-determination, eliminating colonialism in all its forms and manifestations, and advancing Africa Agenda 2063. We look forward to working and coordinating closely with your brotherly country and with your permanent mission to the United Nations to achieve our common goals.

    I would like to take this opportunity to express our deep gratitude for the principled position and strong support shown by your sister country in continental and international forums in support of the struggle of the Sahrawi people for freedom and independence.
