At a large rally at the Malcolm Park Beach Soccer Facility last night, Prime Minister Philip Brave Davis said Bahamians should not hand governance over to the a party that is divided and desperate for power.
Davis said the Free National Movement (FNM), lead by Michael Pintard is not serious.
He said the FNM’s election pledges fall flat and would only benefit the few.
Davis urged Bahamians to vote PLP and not hand the governance over to a man who is struggling to lead his own party.
“The FNM are desperate for power, and they’ll say anything to get it,” Davis said to a near capacity crowd.
‘They’ve already started their campaign of saying the nastiest things about us.
“We will not get down in the mud with them.”
Davis said if Bahamians want “good leadership” they need experienced and tested leadership.
“Our Progressive Liberal Party is united behind a strong vision, with detailed plans and proven teamwork,” he said.
The prime minister also hit out the FNM’s plan to introduce a national lottery if it is successful at the polls.
“These are serious times, which call for serious people,” he said.
“You see what’s happening right now in the Middle East? You see what’s happening right here in our Caribbean region? You see what’s happening with climate change, and tariffs and all these changes in the global economy?
“Guess what the FNM’s number one solution is? A national lottery.
“They want the government to pay for a numbers game, but they want their private operators to make their profits from it!
“You know what that means? The same old faces will be right there: washing you, pressing you and cleaning you out.”
Davis said he was also surprised by the antics of an FNM candidate on nomination day last Thursday.
Though he did not call his name, it was clear that Davis was referring to the FNM’s Garden Hills candidate Rick Fox.
“Yall see how some of them carry on on nomination day,” Davis asked.
“Now I’m not calling any names, cause you know how some of these big-time people like to cry.
“And when you point out how weak they are as a candidate, they say you’re bullying them. All the nastiness they say about me and the PLP, and they’re the ones crying?
“But I gatta ask: what kind of Junkanoo dancing was that?
“People ask me if he had issues. I didn’t know what to say.
“But y’all don’t be too rough on him. He still gat a lot to learn.
“He’s just a first time voter.”
Davis told supporters last night to “take nothing for granted”.
“Desperate people do desperate things,” he said.
“Make your vote count.”
Fox performed an animated dance during nomination day that went viral.
On Friday, during a rally in Abaco, Fox pledged to confront “political bullies” and claimed the PLP is possessed by “demons”.
He told the crowd that he spent the summers of his childhood growing up in Abaco “and even watched a demon being cast out of a kid”, which scared him and led to him turning his life over to Jesus Christ.
“I been on a Jesus run ever since, but no worries, I think I know where all of those demons went,” Fox said.
“They headed to that party. They headed over to that PLP party.”
