Little Red Riding Hood and the Grimm Magic World, a forest full of plastic waste and dissatisfied fairy tale characters – three book recommendations from the Spectrum editorial team.
Little Red Riding Hood is annoyed by the adults. She’s supposed to go to the forest to bring cake to her grandmother, but her grandmother isn’t sick at all. Little Red Riding Hood is self-confident and cheeky, the forest is full of plastic waste, and the wolf is shy of people. The role of the villain is played by Mr. Wolfgang Wolf, mayor of Buchwalden an der Grimm. He wants to cut down the forest and build a shopping center. Of course, Little Red Riding Hood wants to prevent this, she just doesn’t know how yet.

Little Red Riding Hood Saves the Wolf – A non-fairy tale
With illustrations by Gemma Palacio. 64 p., hardcover, € 15.50 (Leykam)
Little Red Riding Hood complains to the illustrator. It feels way too small! It is drawn larger, and the wolf gets upset again: Now he claims he can hardly be seen. Delphine Bournay also makes him bigger, but then it becomes a bit narrow for both of them on one side. Then you only see one leg of the wolf, but who should be afraid? So it goes back and forth until the illustrator has had enough: she only tells the fairy tale in colors. A delicious version!
