Basseterre, St. Kitts, June 1, 2026 – A tragic chapter came to a close today, Monday, June 1, as authorities confirmed that missing hiker Wang Zyuan was found deceased on Mt. Liamuiga following nearly a week of intensive search operations.
According to a statement issued by the Royal St. Christopher and Nevis Police Force (RSCNPF), Mr. Wang, who had been missing since Wednesday, May 27, was located by one of the search teams engaged in the ongoing recovery effort.
The search operation brought together personnel from the RSCNPF, the St. Kitts-Nevis Defence Force, the St. Kitts-Nevis Fire and Rescue Services, the Police Training School, the Forest Unit, the Red Cross, the Ross University K9 Unit, and numerous community volunteers. Teams combed the mountainous terrain daily in hopes of locating the missing hiker.
The Police Force expressed sincere appreciation to all agencies and volunteers who contributed their time, expertise, and resources throughout the operation.
Authorities noted that details surrounding the discovery remain limited at this time, as investigations into the circumstances of Mr. Wang’s death are ongoing.
The RSCNPF extended its deepest condolences to Mr. Wang’s family, friends, and loved ones as they mourn this devastating loss. The public is being urged to refrain from speculation and to rely on official updates as the investigation continues.
