Netherlands national team players celebrate a goal scored against Sweden.
The Netherlands national football team returned on Saturday evening to play the sweetest tunes in the 2026 World Cup competition.
The Netherlands won 5-1 over Sweden, in a match for the second round of the sixth World Cup group.
This confrontation was played in the American city of Houston, under the management of English referee Michael Oliver.
The quintet of the “Mechanical Orange” team were scored by each of the strikers: Brian Proby in the 5th and 17th minutes, Cody Gakpo in the 47th and 54th minutes, and Crisancio Summerville in the 89th minute, while the Swedish team’s goal was scored by striker Anthony Elanga in the 59th minute.
The Netherlands national team previously played in the World Cup final for the 1974, 1978 and 2010 editions, while it reached the quarter-finals of the last edition in 2022.
For the same group, the Tunisian national team is competing with Japan at dawn this Sunday.
The first round saw the Netherlands draw with Japan (2-2), and Tunisia lost to Sweden (1-5).

After organizing three rounds, the leader and runner-up of the group advance to the round of 16. The third place in the standings can join them, if he obtains the best third place, in a race with 12 teams and 8 visas.
