Prime Minister Albin Kurti’s Self-Determination Movement is leading in the parliamentary elections in Kosovo with 42.3 percent, after 54.9 percent of the votes were counted, according to the partial official results of the Kosovo Election Commission, announced “Reuters”.
The exit poll conducted today by Pipos TV for the Kosovo clan previously showed that the Self-Determination movement leads the elections with 42.3 percent.
According to the first estimates, Self-Determination, despite the high abstention in the elections, achieved a convincing victory, but according to the exit polls, this result is significantly lower than the one achieved in the last elections, when it won 51 percent.
According to polls published by the three main media in the country, Self-Determination will not be able to independently form the next government/
Today’s early parliamentary elections are the third in just over a year, after the parties failed to reach an agreement on electing a new president.
These early elections were called because the Kosovo parliament failed to elect a new president within the constitutional deadline after the end of President Vjosa Osmani’s term.
The political and institutional crisis in Kosovo deepened after the parliamentary elections last February, when, despite the overwhelming victory of Self-Determination, there were numerous failed attempts to constitute a parliament and form a government.
According to the state election commission, 21 political parties or alliances participated in Sunday’s elections.
