Kandal provincial governor Kuoch Chamroeun has called on the public to celebrate Khmer New Year by taking part in traditional folk games while refraining from throwing water or powder at revelers and passersby.
He made the appeal during an inauguration ceremony for various achievements at Wat Ang Sleng pagoda on April 13.
Chamroeun warned that such activities can lead to unexpected accidents, particularly by causing traffic congestion and disrupting the travel of those who may not wish to participate. This includes individuals who need to commute to work, seek medical services, or carry out other essential travel.
He also praised local authorities for maintaining security, safety, and public order at the grassroots level, especially during the Khmer New Year celebrations.
