In the period from January to May 2026, there were 353 road accidents in Ukraine involving electric scooters, unicycles, gyroscooters and other types of light electric transport, in which people were injured. In almost half of the cases (44.9%) children were affected.
We will remind, over the past six years, the courts of Kyiv carried out 795 decisions in road accident cases in which “scooter” is mentioned.
In the first four months of 2026, there were 151 such decisions, which is more than in all of 2021, 2022, 2023 and 2024.
At the same time, only 11 criminal proceedings ended with court verdicts. In most cases, the culprits were punished with imprisonment with a probationary period, somewhat less often – with a fine of 51,000 hryvnias.
After 2023, a fine of 17,000 hryvnias and a ban on driving a vehicle for a year became the standard punishment under the Code of Criminal Procedure.
