According to the department, the basement of maternity hospital No. 1, houses on N. Makhsum and Shamsi streets, as well as premises in the area of Health Center No. 14 were flooded. The capital’s teams of a special search and rescue unit quickly began pumping out the water.

In addition, in the Rudaki region, the city of Gissar and in the Hamadoni and Dangara districts of the Khatlon region, flooding and damage to roads, residential buildings and agricultural land occurred due to mudflows. The damage caused is being assessed.
The CoES noted that emergency services immediately mobilized forces and means to eliminate the consequences of the disaster using special equipment and pumping equipment.
“Water levels in the rivers are under constant monitoring, and no serious threats to transport communications have been registered. All main roads and bridges are open, traffic flow is ensured,” the department added.
The Emergency Situations Committee of the Republic of Tajikistan continues round-the-clock monitoring and is taking all necessary measures to eliminate the consequences of the disaster and ensure the safety of the population.

On May 1 and 2, in the southern and central cities and regions of Khatlon, in the regions of republican subordination and in Dushanbe, and on May 2 and 3 in the east of the Gorno-Badakhshan Autonomous Region, due to a dust storm from the southwest and northwest, an increase in the level of air pollution with suspended particles of 10 microdistrict (RM-10) and 2.5 microdistrict (RM-2.5) is expected.
