Houston – DPA:
The German national team repeated its famous historic victory over Brazil with a score of 7-1, as it swept Curacao, participating for the first time in the FIFA World Cup, with the same score in the first round of the group stage of the 2026 tournament held in the United States, Mexico and Canada.
The German team did not show mercy to its opponent’s weakness to achieve a historic victory, while the Curacao team contented itself with making history by scoring the first goals.
Felix Nmecha opened the scoring for Germany in the sixth minute, then Livano Cominensa equalized for Curacao in the 26th minute.
Nico Schlotterbeck restored Germany’s lead in the 38th minute, then Kai Havertz added the third goal from a penalty kick in the fifth minute of stoppage time in the first half.
Jamal Musiala scored a fourth goal in the 47th minute, then Nathaniel Brown added a fifth in the 68th minute, and the German goal festival continued with the sixth goal, which was scored by Deniz Undav in the 78th minute, and Joshua Kimmich concluded the seven-point effort ten minutes later.
The German national team was largely guaranteed to qualify for the second round thanks to this great victory, while the Côte d’Ivoire and Ecuador teams will meet on Monday in the same group.
