The decisive week for the future Government begins in Cotroceni, where President Nicușor Dan is expected to announce the name of the future premier. Presidential advisers, political leaders and economic specialists are on the list of options circulated in recent days, as negotiations between the parties enter the straight line.
Among the names discussed as possible proposals or options supported by the head of state are Radu Burnete, Eugene Tomac, Alexandru Nazare, Delia Velculescu, Sorin Grindeanu and Cătălin Predoiu.
Last week, the head of state held talks with all parliamentary parties and non-affiliated parliamentarians, but without a decision on the appointment of a prime minister.
At the end of the discussions, President Nicușor Dan called for responsibility.
“Ever since the informal discussions held after the adoption of the censure motion, my request was that the parties indicate the majority they can coagulate, in agreement with parliamentary mathematics, which can ensure the support of a Government. We will continue the series of consultations until a solid, pro-Western majority version crystallizes. My public appeal is the same one I emphasized during today’s meetings: it is essential that the parties show responsibility, maturity and arrive, in a reasonable time, at a common denominator, with coherent formulas and viable proposals”, he declared Nicosor Dan.
According to Antena 3 CNN, citing sources from the presidential administration, the president could announce the prime minister this week without calling the parties to Cotroceni again.
