France announced today, Wednesday, that it had recorded the first case of infection with the Ebola virus on its territory, in a doctor returning from the Democratic Republic of the Congo, which is currently witnessing a large-scale epidemic outbreak.
The French Ministry of Health said in a statement: “We confirm that the first confirmed case of Ebola infection has been recorded on French soil,” explaining, in response to questions from Agence France-Presse, that the case was recorded on the mainland. French Prime Minister Sebastien Lecornu is closely monitoring the situation, according to his office.
