The Algerian national team was granted a pass to the 32nd round of the 2026 World Cup, after tying with the Austrian national team by three goals to three.
The Algerian and Austrian teams have completed the round of 32, where the “Greens” will face the Swiss team, while the Austrian team will face the Spanish team.
The beginning of the match witnessed attempts by both sides, but without any danger, and with the passage of the first quarter of an hour, the pace of the match increased, and the Austrian team tried to reach goalkeeper Ben Bout, and was able to do so in the 28th minute, before the response came through Belghali in the 45th minute after he penetrated into the operations area, and equalized the result.
During the first stage, the Algerian team created several scoring opportunities, the most dangerous of which was Chaybi’s shot, which hit the post, and Mazza’s and Belghali’s shot.
The Austrian team took the lead again in the 55th minute, after which the “Greens” came back strongly, and equalized the score after only five minutes through Riyad Mahrez.
The last minutes of the match were dominated by great caution on both sides, especially since the result of the tie qualified the two teams, and the Petkovic Cubs possessed the ball in the last minutes, before they were able to add a third in the third minute of stoppage time through Riyad Mahrez, so the response came from Austria, which adjusted the result after three minutes, so that the match ended with the two teams qualifying for the round of 32.
The Algerian and Swiss teams will meet Canada, at dawn on Friday, starting at four o’clock Algeria time, in the framework of the 32nd round of the 2026 World Cup.
