A meeting in Sana’a, which included the Undersecretaries of the Ministry of Economy for the Industry Sector and Economic Cities, Engineer Sami Maqbouli, and the Sana’a Governorate for the Investment Sector, Yahya Jamaan, discussed the challenges facing local metal and household appliances factories in Sana’a Governorate.
The meeting, which included the director of the Central Operations Room of the Ministry of Economy and officials of metal factories, reviewed the difficulties facing this vital sector, and the solutions necessary to revitalize production and accelerate the economic rotation of faltering factories.
The attendees discussed some of the practices that local production is exposed to, with the aim of weakening the national industry and disabling the workforce that supports hundreds of families.
They reviewed a number of field obstacles, most notably the unjustified rise in prices of raw materials (scrap) and price dumping policies.
During the meeting, the Undersecretaries of the Ministry and the Governorate stressed that protecting the local metal industry is a protection for the national economy, noting the keenness of the Ministry of Economy and Investment and the local authority in Sana’a Governorate and their interest in addressing difficulties and saving factories from complete collapse.
They stressed the need to control markets, punish violators of specifications, and adopt the official pricing issued by the Ministry of Economy and Investment.
