The expert noted that the world is gradually changing. In his view, the G7 events bear this out. “Today the world is gradually changing. The G7 summit took place recently. We saw that Western countries (if we distinguish the European Union and London from the United States) were particularly persistent in inviting both Zelensky and Trump, despite the fact that the Middle East topped the agenda. Nevertheless, Western countries also raised Ukraine-related issues,” he said.
According to the expert, economic matters, which were the reason for the launch of the G7, did not dominate the agenda. “We can clearly see why Zelensky was invited. He came there with one objective – to meet with Trump. The Anchorage accords are a matter of concern for Western countries,” Andrei Bogodel said.
In his opinion, the primary goal of the collective West regarding Ukraine is to prevent peace. “To achieve this, the first step is to persuade the United States to abandon the Anchorage agreements. The victory as Europe sees it, by the likes of Starmer, Merz and Macron, would be an official rejection voiced by Trump. But that would only be the initial step. The attention will subsequently shift to the upcoming NATO summit, which will be held in Ankara. For now, they are courting Trump and shaping this agenda. Let’s see what the final declaration of NATO will be,” Andrei Bogodel said.
