Police are investigating a double homicide after two men were shot dead in Siparia during the early hours of Friday.
One of the victims has been identified as 39-year-old Osie Packette of Taylor Avenue, Quinam Road, Siparia. The second victim, believed to be a man of African descent, had not been identified up to Friday morning.
According to police, officers attached to the Siparia Criminal Investigations Department responded to reports of loud explosions along Taylor Avenue at about 1.55 a.m.
When officers arrived, they found an unidentified man lying on the roadway with multiple gunshot wounds. Further checks of the area led to the discovery of Packette’s body about 200 feet away. He had also sustained multiple gunshot wounds.
Crime Scene Investigators processed the area and recovered several spent shell casings of different calibres, including 9mm and 5.56mm ammunition, along with a black-handled knife. The hands of both deceased men were bagged as part of the forensic investigation.
Investigators were told that shortly after the gunfire, a white vehicle of unknown make and model was seen speeding away from Taylor Avenue.
The unidentified victim is described as being of African descent, medium build, about 5 feet 8 inches tall, with cornrowed hair and a short beard. He was found wearing blue jeans and was barefoot and shirtless.
Police are continuing investigations into the killings.
