Everything you should know about professional examinations in the education sector

The Ministry of National Education issued a new Circular No. 290 dated May 4th, which includes organizing professional examinations for the year 2026 for the benefit of the administrative corps, allocating 8,704 financial positions, of which the rank of primary school principal received the lion’s share of 1,850 positions.

The Ministry warned that every application submitted outside the specified legal deadlines or outside the electronic platform designated for this purpose is considered null and void of effect and will not be taken into account at all, as it was decided to organize professional exams on July 11, 2026.

In the context of simplifying and digitizing administrative procedures, employees participating in this exam are exempt from submitting any documents related to their career path or status, as this is undertaken by their original employing administration.

The Ministry of National Education stressed that this process is conducted exclusively through the digital platform designated for this purpose, starting from the registration stage, through studying files and directing summonses, all the way to announcing the final results.

The financial positions allocated for the competition are divided into 1,135 positions for the rank of principal in primary education, 335 for the rank of principal in middle education, and a principal in secondary education, with 417 financial positions, in addition to 358 positions with the rank of principal supervisor of education, 177 financial positions as principal supervisor, 1,784 financial positions as general supervisor of education, and 70 financial positions.

There are 136 financial positions for the rank of chief attaché in the laboratories, 35 financial positions for the rank of supervisor attaché in the laboratories, and 91 financial positions for a deputy supervisor, compared to 158 financial positions for the rank of deputy supervisor, 259 financial positions for a supervisor, and 115 financial positions for a chief economist.

The rank of primary school principal came at the top of the list of financial positions, with 1,850 financial positions, 778 financial positions for middle school principal, and 358 financial positions for secondary principal, compared to 265 financial positions for the rank of primary education inspector, specializing in subjects, 56 financial positions for the primary education inspector, specializing in primary school management, and seven positions for the rank of primary education inspector, specializing in school nutrition.

As for the rank of middle education inspector, specializing in subjects, it received 183 financial positions, compared to 32 financial positions for the middle education inspector, specializing in middle school administration, 20 financial positions for the inspector of school and vocational guidance and counseling in the middle schools, 20 financial positions for the financial and material management inspector in the middle schools, and also 31 financial positions for the rank of secondary education inspector, specializing in subjects, and 16 financial positions for the secondary education inspector, specializing in secondary school administration. 13 financial positions for financial and material management inspector in secondary schools.

Promotion will be made to the rank of education supervisor, technical assistant for laboratories, chief attaché for laboratories, and chief assistant for economic departments, with an automatic transfer to financial positions.

In this regard, the Ministry of Education indicated that the financial positions allocated for professional examinations for joining the ranks of management of educational institutions have been calculated as high school director, intermediate director, and primary school director, according to precise control taking into account not exceeding the ceiling of financial positions open for each rank, taking into account the need to ensure administrative supervision of the currently existing educational institutions, as well as the institutions expected to open on the occasion of school entry 2026/2027, based on the latest budget distribution of financial positions for the year 2026.

In return, it warned against exploiting or redistributing vacant financial positions designated for professional examinations for all ranks in general and for management ranks in particular, “under any circumstances,” during the period extending from the date of signing the decision to distribute financial positions until the final announcement of the results, in order to preserve the integrity of the procedures and the credibility of the process.

Professional examinations will be announced from May 7 to May 31, i.e. 15 working days, through widespread advertising at the workplace level, as well as through official websites on the Internet, especially at the level of education directorates, educational institutions, and school guidance and counseling centres, in a way that ensures broad and comprehensive information for all concerned.

Applications are submitted from May 7, 2026 to May 31, 2026, through exclusive and mandatory registration on the digital platform designated for this purpose.

After that, a committee is set up headed by the Director of Education, which, once registrations are opened, studies the nomination files and prepares a report that includes, in particular, the nominal list of candidates whose candidacy files have been accepted based on their compliance with the required legal conditions.
