The administrator of the Agricultural BankFernando Durán, reported that the institution’s portfolio exceeds 56 billion pesos and has received direct contributions from the Government for more than 22,500 million pesos.
He explained that thanks to these resources, they have delivered loans to the agricultural sector for more than 170 billion pesoswhich has made it possible to capitalize on the countryside, revalue the importance of agriculture, ensure the profitability of the producer and guarantee food security.
“Agricultural producers face increasingly complex challenges in these times, the management of which requires financial resources to adapt production systems to the impact of climate change, make the use of irrigation water more efficient, meet global agreements for the decarbonization of agriculture and respond to the demands of increasingly conscious consumers,” Durán said.
Likewise, he added that all these challenges require more effective and inclusive public policies in order to guarantee the growing demand for food and contribute to the sustainability of the planet.
He assured that the country enjoys abundant availability of locally produced agricultural goods, within a framework of price stability for consumers and profitability for the producer.
“Likewise, our exportable production is more diversified and enjoys an excellent positioning in international markets. And something very important, agriculture and the countryside today are perceived as spaces of opportunities for investment and entrepreneurship,” said the Bagrícola administrator.
In a floral offering held at the Primate Cathedral of America for the 81st anniversary of the institution, Durán highlighted the functionality of the Campo Joven Program, which he claims has benefited 300 young people who are dedicated to agricultural activity.
