Irineu Darău, the interim Minister of Economy, Digitization, Entrepreneurship and Tourism accuses the former head of the Authority for Digitization of Romania (ADR) of having lost 14.7 million lei from PNRRand the bill is now paid from the state budget.
“How do you lose European money from PNRR and end up putting invoice on the shoulders of Romanians? You do what the former leadership of ADR did under Vlad Dragoș: you take European money intended for technical investments in the Government Cloud and use it for salaries. Ineligible expenses. Rules ignored. Zero liability. The result? A damage of 14.7 million lei that must now be covered from the Romanian state budget”, wrote the minister in a post on his page Facebook.
Furthermore, he says that when the situation exploded, those running ADR did not come up with solutions and had no plan to protect the technical team that was managing infrastructure criticism of the Government Cloud.
“Delays, blockages and administrative chaos followed. Exactly the specialists without whom the Governmental Cloud cannot function were completely left in the air. This was the “great digitization” they sold us for years in a row: European funds lost due to incompetence, millions transferred to the state budget, strategic projects vulnerable, critical infrastructure put at risk by improvisation and lack of responsibility”, says Irineu Darău.
