Role Overview
We are seeking a detail-oriented and proactive Accountant to take ownership of end-to-end accounting and financial operations related to sponsorship revenues, athlete disbursements, and associated professional services. This role involves managing bookkeeping and reporting processes, liaising with consultants and external service providers, and ensuring all financial activity aligns with contractual obligations and regulatory requirements.
Key Responsibilities
Revenue & Client Disbursement Oversight
- Manage and reconcile sponsor payments into dedicated client accounts.
- Calculate and apply commission deductions? oversee the remittance of balances to athletes.
- Collaborate with consultants to ensure timely and accurate reconciliations and disbursements.
- Track and account for multiple income streams per athlete, including retainers, tournament bonuses, ranking bonuses, and appearance fees.
Bookkeeping & Financial Operations
- Maintain accurate and timely financial records for active athlete clients.
- Record transactions in accordance with commission structures and contract milestones.
- Reconcile client and bank accounts on a regular basis.
- Monitor sponsor receivables and resolve any payment discrepancies.
Liaison with External Professional Services
- Act as the primary finance contact for consultants, legal advisors, and tax professionals.
- Support preparation and review of VAT filings, corporate tax returns, and annual financial statements.
- Ensure compliance with Companies House and other regulatory submissions.
- Address sponsor-related financial documentation including W8BEN forms, tax disclosures, and KYC requirements.
Payroll & Consultant Oversight
- Coordinate UK-based payroll processing.
- Maintain oversight of consultant compensation arrangements, including fixed and bonus components.
- Track performance milestones to assess bonus eligibility where applicable.
Candidate Profile
Essential Qualifications & Experience
- Qualified or part-qualified accountant (ACA, ACCA, or equivalent).
- Minimum 5 years of experience in financial accounting or client-accounting environments.
- Proven experience with financial reconciliations, commission-based accounting, and milestone-driven invoicing.
- Strong background in working with external professional services (eg, tax, legal, corporate advisors).
Desirable Experience
- Experience in the sports, talent management, or sponsorship sectors.
- Familiarity with international tax documentation and reporting (eg, W8BEN, KYC).
- Exposure to working with high-net-worth individuals and bespoke financial arrangements.
