DZERZHINSK DISTRICT, 25 June (BelTA) – The areas for forming a common agricultural policy in the Union State of Belarus and Russia were outlined by Deputy State Secretary and member of the Standing Committee of the Union State Aleksandr Yaroshenko at the breakout session High‑Performance Agricultural Sector: Conditions and Opportunities Today at the 13th Forum of Regions of Belarus and Russia on 25 June, BelTA has learned.
According to Aleksandr Yaroshenko, the Union State format opens a new stage of economic integration. The relevance of cooperation has only grown in recent years. One of the most important tasks in the new economic conditions is the formation of a common agricultural policy. It is based on achieving technological sovereignty, innovative development of agriculture, and digital transformation of the sector.
“No less important is the task of eliminating barriers in the sale of agricultural products, raw materials, and food on the markets of both countries. At the same time, it is essential to continue implementing joint cooperation projects. They play a key role in achieving technological sovereignty in terms of means of production for the agro‑industrial complex – machinery, equipment, fertilizers, plant protection products, seeds, and feed additives,” Aleksandr Yaroshenko said.
He separately emphasized the need to transition to a new level of agricultural science development for creating plant varieties and animal breeds. “We expect initiatives from the relevant ministries on new programs and projects in promising areas for cooperation. Especially since we are currently interacting systematically as part of the preparation of the Union State Treaty Implementation Guidelines for 2027-2029,” Aleksandr Yaroshenko added.

According to him, substantive discussions and exchanges of views contribute to the sustainable development of rural areas in the Union State. Joint efforts are needed to enhance their investment attractiveness, improve food quality, and minimize losses.
