Beirut, June 18 (SANA) Lebanese President Joseph Aoun said on Thursday that Lebanon’s stability and security are essential to broader regional stability as well as to Europe, stressing the need for foreign investment to support the country’s economic recovery.
According to the Lebanese National News Agency, Aoun made the remarks during a meeting with a joint Qatari-French-British ministerial delegation. He noted that instability in Lebanon has implications that extend beyond the region and directly affect Europe.
Aoun underlined that economic, financial, administrative, and judicial reforms are a national priority, not merely a condition set by international partners supporting Lebanon.
He added that Lebanon requires investment more than aid, arguing that ongoing reform efforts are crucial to restoring economic growth and improving the investment climate across key sectors.
The Lebanese president also highlighted international assistance to Lebanon, particularly support for the army and security forces, describing them as a central pillar of stability and a key enabler of recovery and development.
Earlier this month, Aoun reiterated that Lebanon would continue negotiations with Israel despite external pressure, saying the talks are intended to safeguard national interests.
