Analysts warn Nicușor Dan. "The scenario of early elections is extremely dangerous. AUR will parade, the suspension will be a given"

The political deadlock generated by the failure to form the Vestea government is seen by analysts as a major defeat for President Nicușor Dan and for the parties that supported the current coalition formula. In the absence of a negotiated solution, Romania risks entering a deep political crisis, with early elections and unpredictable consequences on the stability of the government.

Political scientist Andrei Țăranu is of the opinion that the failure is shared between Adrian Veștea, with the president Nicușor Dan and P.S.D.

“The president of Romania failed and then Mr. Veștea and, thirdly, the Social Democratic Party. We have a long line of failures regarding this idea of the president to necessarily preserve this so-called pro-Western coalition, which anyway stopped working on May 5. The initiative led to this outcome and, practically, to Romania’s approach to a possible start of early elections,” said Țăranu, for TVR Info.

Adrian Zăbău, political consultant, warns that Nicușor Dan is in danger if early elections are reached.

“The early elections scenario is extremely dangerous for President Nicușor Dan, because, after some early elections in which GOLD most likely he will march, the suspension will be a given. I have no doubt that after the snap election, the president’s suspension will come to a vote. If he wants to avoid early elections, I think he can no longer come up with a nomination against the majority of MPs and parties in Parliament. Basically, a non-negotiated nomination, a nomination that does not have a cloud of previous understanding, even if not a majority, but at least an understanding regarding the vote for the investiture”, says the consultant.

The exit from the crisis, increasingly complicated

Economists warn that the measures to get out of the crisis will be harder to take as time goes on.

“If you didn’t do and didn’t take the measures at the right time, now it becomes more and more difficult. You take the same measures with even greater sacrifices. If it is so difficult to make a government, God, but what would be so complicated there, how difficult it will be to take the necessary substantial measures now. Because the ball is no longer in our court, it is in their court, the Government’s. That is where the situation in hand must be taken decisively”, says professor Adrian Mitroi.
