The Kingdom and Turkey sign memorandums of understanding to enhance railway connectivity and logistical services
Yesterday, His Excellency the Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Engineer Saleh bin Nasser Al-Jasser, held a discussion session at the Ministry’s headquarters in Riyadh with his counterpart, His Excellency the Turkish Minister of Transport and Infrastructure, Abdulkadir Oraloglu, who is visiting the Kingdom accompanied by a high-level delegation.
During the session, ways to enhance joint cooperation between the two countries in the fields of transport and logistics services were discussed, and the prospects for partnership and joint cooperation in land, sea, air and railway transport modes were discussed.
The discussion session was attended by His Excellency the Deputy Minister of Transport and Logistics Services, Dr. Rumaih bin Muhammad Al-Rumaih, His Excellency the President of the General Authority for Transport, Mr. Fawaz bin Zanaaf Al-Sahli, and the CEO of the Saudi Railways, Dr. Bashar bin Khaled Al-Malik.
After that, two memorandums of understanding were signed between the Kingdom and the Republic of Turkey, the first aiming at cooperation between the two parties in the field of the latest methods of providing services and logistical operations, and exchanging and supporting expertise, experiences and the most prominent variables regarding the logistics services sector of all types and types, in addition to harmonizing and exchanging policies and legislation for the logistics services sector.
The second memorandum aims to cooperate in the field of railways, by defining railway specifications, technologies and innovations related to them, signaling and communications systems, and digitizing railways, in addition to reducing the environmental impact of the railway sector, exchanging knowledge in best practices related to railway design, implementation, operation and maintenance, in addition to creating partnerships to develop human capabilities in the sector, and transferring best practices and experiences in the localization of railway industries.
