Six municipalities make up the “Nordstad” region, namely Bettendorf, Diekirch, Colmar-Berg, Erpeldingen/Sauer, Ettelbrück and Schieren. As early as 1973, the term “Nordstad” was often heard and read. This meant the urban agglomeration around Diekirch and Ettelbruck.
Seventeen years later, the actions of the Nordstad think tank, which considered a series of pilot projects, gave hope. In 2006 the first Nordstad Convention was signed. In the following two years, the basis for this project, namely the “Nordstad Master Plan”, was developed.
