Tegucigalpa, Honduras
The former president of Honduras, Juan Orlando Hernandezthis Monday asked Hondurans and his followers to continue praying for him to be reunited with his family and, later, return to the country.
In a video published on his social networks, Hernández assured that this is “one of the moments that I have waited most for these four years,” after learning of the resolution of the Second Circuit Court of Appeals in the United States, which he described as the second most important after the Supreme Court of that country.
According to him, the court completely eliminated the sentence against him and ordered the withdrawal of all charges that, he stated, had been unjustly filed. “I am grateful to God. Time and God our Lord proved me right. I always said I was innocent,” he said.
The former president also thanked the Hondurans who, he assured, believed in his innocence and showed solidarity with him and his family during the process. He extended his recognition to his “nationalist brothers” and to those who, without belonging to his party, prayed for his liberation.
Likewise, he expressed gratitude to the people who provided support to his family, whom he described as “true friends,” and sent them a hug.
Hernández requested prayer support so that his family can be reunited with him, pointing out that he has the right to be with them and asking that they be granted the corresponding visa.
Finally, he expressed his hope that the conditions will soon exist to return to Honduras and reunite with his entire family and followers.
